Play a Free Spelling Bee Game Online
Word Hive is a free spelling bee word game built around seven letters. Six letters sit around one required center letter, and your goal is to make as many valid words as you can. Every answer must contain the center letter, but letters may be reused within a word. That simple rule creates a puzzle that is easy to begin and surprisingly deep as you search for longer words, uncommon combinations, and the elusive pangram. You can play in your browser on a phone, tablet, or computer with no download or signup.
How to Play Word Hive
Tap or type letters to build a word, then press Enter to submit it. A valid word must be at least four letters long, include the center letter, and use only the seven letters in the hive. You can use a letter more than once, so answers such as those with doubled letters are possible. Use Delete to remove the last letter and Shuffle to rearrange the six outside letters when you want a fresh way to scan the board. Words you have already found stay in your list and cannot be scored twice.
Spelling Bee Scoring and Pangrams
Four-letter words earn one point. Longer words earn one point for each letter, rewarding you for spotting more ambitious answers. A pangram uses all seven letters in the hive at least once and earns a seven-point bonus on top of its normal word score. Each puzzle tracks your points and progress toward higher ranks, so even a short session has a clear next goal. Finding every accepted answer is the ultimate challenge, but uncovering a pangram or reaching a new rank is a satisfying win on its own.
Daily and Unlimited Word Puzzles
Daily mode gives everyone the same Word Hive puzzle for the day, making it easy to compare progress with friends without revealing the answers. Your found words and score are saved on your device, so you can leave and return later. If one hive is not enough, Unlimited mode creates another puzzle immediately. It is useful for relaxed play, vocabulary practice, or learning to see familiar prefixes and endings in new letter combinations.
Tips for Finding More Words
Start with common four-letter words to build momentum, then extend them with endings such as -S, -ED, -ER, or -ING when those letters are available. Remember that the center letter can appear anywhere in the word and can be used more than once. Shuffle often: changing the layout can make a hidden word stand out even though the available letters stay the same. Finally, look for a word that connects all seven letters. Even when it is not the longest answer, that pangram bonus can make a large difference to your score.
